Lois May Dalstra's Obituary
Grand Rapids - Lois May VanAlstine Shore Dalstra, 79, of Wyoming, passed away at her home on Thursday, February 2, 2012 after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 21, 1932 in Grant Center, Michigan, the daughter Bud and Mary (Thumser) VanAlstine. Lois graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1950. Lois worked at Michigan Bell in Big Rapids, married and moved to Grand Rapids in 1953. In 1955 she started working at Eberhard's Food Store, where she was employeed for 37 years. She married Roger Dalstra on June 8, 1968. Lois enjoyed spending quality time with her family and gardening. She and Roger enjoyed many wonderful trips to see family and friends. Lois is survived by her husband Roger, her children Donna (Dan) Belanger, Duane (Teresa) Shore, Dean Shore, and step children David Dalstra and John (Deb) Dalstra, grandchildren Heather Belanger-Wesseldyk, Justin Belanger, Erika Shore, Stephanie Shore, Stacie Shore, Paige Shore, Alex Shore, step grandchildren Jeremy Dalstra, Kenny Dalstra, Karen Dalstra and Nicole Marklevitz, four great grandchildren and seven step-great grandchildren, brothers Elmer (Maxine) VanAlstine, Donald VanAlstine, sister Helen (Nolan) Brown, brother and sister-in-law Ronald and Margie Dalstra and special niece Dorothy Jones and daughter-in-law Julie Shore as well as many nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her parents Bud and Mary, her brothers Lyle, Burt and Raymond VanAlstine, sister Marjorie and great grandson Khyler. Funeral services for Lois will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2012 at the Mohnke Funeral Home, 128 S. Warren Avenue, Big Rapids with Rev. Randy DonGiovanni officiating. Her family will greet friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 5th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grant Center United Methodist Church or the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer.
