Lois Lorraine Lutzke's Obituary
Big Rapids -Lois Lorraine Lutzke, 93, of Big Rapids, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at Altercare of Big Rapids. She was born June 26, 1922, in Big Rapids, the first child of Walter & Myrtle (Potter) Pettit, and graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1940. Lois attended (then) Ferris Institute for secretarial training, working for Hanchett Manufacturing, before finding a long career with William T. (Bill) McElwain, Attorney-at-Law. Lois met Robert Lutzke in 1954 when he moved here from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and started a music business. On September 5, of that year they were married, and she became a baptized member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church on February 20, 1955. They were married a few days short of 50 years when Bob died in 2004. Lois was a loving care-giver for Bob during the 14 years after he suffered a disabling stroke in 1990. She is survived by 2 sons, Walt (Cindy nee Gibson) and Robert F. II "Buzz", both of Big Rapids; grandsons Jim Lutzke of Portland, OR, and Alex (Jackie) Lutzke, and their children Oliver and Margot of Indianapolis, IN; 2 sisters-in-law, Barbara and Janice Petitt, and many nieces and nephews. Lois was also preceded in death by her 4 brothers, Jack (and Louise), Carl, Harold (And Florence), and Leon Pettit. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 28, 2015, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Big Rapids, with Pastor John Bookshaw officiating. Following cremation, burial will fbe in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Stanwood. Lois' family will greet friends after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions in her name may be made for St. Peter's Lutheran Church or to Alzheimer's Research (www.alz.org), with envelopes available at the church or the Mohnke Funeral Home.
