Lorna Elsie Wolf's Obituary
Big Rapids-Lorna Elsie Wolf, 93, of Big Rapids, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2016 at her home. Lorna was born on September 18, 1922, the daughter of Aden Loyal & Verda Goldie (Case) Springsteen in DeWitt, Michigan. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1940. Lorna lived her life between Michigan and Florida. She held many different jobs throughout her lifetime, but most enjoyed owning and operating her own businesses. Lorna enjoyed spending as much time as she could with her family and always looked forward to playing games and Bingo with her friends. The Detroit Tigers, The Little League World Series and golf was something she always looked forward to every season. Lorna loved staying up to date on current events especially politics. She was a very independent woman, devoted to her faith and always found the positive in any situation. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Johnny, Donovan and Loretta, her brothers-in-law; Duward Pontius and Jerry Potter, a daughter-in-law, Christina and a son-in-law, Joseph. She is survived by her children; David (Cindy) McMellen of Traverse City and Linka Sobkowski of Bellingham, WA.; her grandchildren; Matthew (Jennifer) McMellen of Ludington, Melissa (Sherri Penington) McMellen of Big Rapids, Chelsea (John)Fournier of North Carolina, Sarah (Thomas) Cadalber of Switzerland, Elizabeth (Edward) Thompson of Florida; six great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; her siblings; Edwin (Lois) Springsteen of Sheridan, Madge Pontius of Coral, Harold (Dorothy) Springsteen of Sheridan, sister-in-law, Helen Springsteen of Sheridan plus many nieces and nephews and her cat, Bella. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at the First Congregational Church in Sheridan at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 with Reverend Phillip VanDop officiating. Luncheon to follow at the VFW Hall in Sheridan. Memorial contributions can be made in her name to the Animal Rescue Coalition of Mecosta County.
