Luane Roger Messer's Obituary
Luane Roger Messer, age 87, of Six Lakes passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025, at his daughter’s home surrounded by family. Luane was born in Lakeview on March 7, 1938, the son of Lester and Harriet Messer Liscombe.
Luane graduated from Lakeview High School with The Class of 1956 and then served honorably in the National Guard. In 1958, he married his childhood sweetheart, Helen Conklin, and together they built a loving family. Luane was a skilled woodworker, owning his own business since the early 1980s, and he had a deep love for fishing, bowling and spending time in his workshop. Luane was known for his joyful, easygoing nature, his humor, and his fondness for flirting; always calling the ladies “Smiley”.
Luane and Helen raised four children who will deeply miss him: Duane (Andrea) Messer, Melody (Dave Feil) Shappee, Rick Messer, and Holly Messer. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 3 step siblings, an enormous amount of extended family, and many community friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother Duane, his beloved wife Helen, one great-grandson, Beau Belson, his mom and dad in-law Wanettie and Leslie Conklin and stepfather James Liscombe.
Luane’s legacy of love, laughter, and craftsmanship will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of Luane’s life will be planned and held at a future date. Care and arrangements have been entrusted to Janowicz Family Funeral Home-Lakeview.
