Marcella J. Cady's Obituary
Big Rapids - Marcella J. Cady, age 76, of Big Rapids, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, October 13, 2011. She was born May 13, 1935 in Big Rapids, the daughter of Russell L. and Geneva H. (Jefts) Gilchrist. Marcella graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1953. She enjoyed quilting, canning, reading, collecting and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Marcella is survived by seven children; Cynthia (James) Cornell of Paris, Debra (Steven) Wright of Paris, Jacalyn (Steven) Jensen of Rodney, Brian (Tina) Cady of Big Rapids, Brenda (Don) Griffis of Big Rapids, Faye (Daryl) Young of Big Rapids and Karen Wright of Arizona, 39 grandchildren, 41great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers Jack (Betty) Gilchrist, Gordon (Gail) Gilchrist, and one sister Polly (Datus) Montague plus many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Plyna Hardwick, one granddaughter, Michele and one great granddaughter, Meranda. A memorial service for Marcella will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday October 16, 2011 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Dan Clise officiating. Her family will greet friends beginning at 2 p.m. prior to services. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, or the American Diabetes Association or the American Diabetes Association.
