Margaret Alber's Obituary
Big Rapids - Margaret L. Alber, 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on July 21, 1928 in Stanwood, the daughter of Charles and Ethel (Wood) Cornell. Marge attended Big Rapids High School and graduated with the class of 1946. In 1947, she married her high school sweetheart, Jack. They lived in Big Rapids for 16 years and later settled in Stanwood. Marge worked at Sears and then began working at Ferris State University where she retired in 1987 after 23 years of service. Marge's interests included music, fishing, camping, baking, canning and mowing the lawn. She loved having friends and family stop by to visit. Marge is survived by her two children, Gary (Jan) Alber and Debbie (Carl) Youngs; five grandchildren, Marla (Brian) Estes, Mindy (Paul) Eichenberg, Brian (Jennifer) Alber, Vickie (Sam) Eyde and Beckie Cohen; seven great- grandchildren, Garrett and Madeline Alber, Grant Ringler, Emilee, Bryant and Max Cohen and Sam Eichenberg; twelve nieces and nephews; and her Border Collie, Micker. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Raymond and Charles Cornell; and her husband of more than 64 years, Jack Alber in 2011. Funeral services for Marge will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Kathryn Cadarette officiating. Visitation prior to the services will be from 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 5th Interment will follow the service at Stanwoood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Marge's honor to Spectrum Health Hospice.
