Margaret "Maggie" Jean Rasmussen's Obituary
Margaret "Maggie" Jean Rasmussen 92, of Lakeview passed away Monday, March 16, 2020 at Lakeview Terrace. She was born in Edmore on May 11, 1927, the daughter of Alvin and Emma Lea (Mackie) Smith.
Maggie grew up in Lakeview and attended Lakeview High School. She married Russell Rasmussen on February 28, 1948. Maggie was employed by Federal Mogul, however her main passion was being a homemaker and helping her husband on the family farm their entire lives together. Throughout her life she enjoyed flowers, gardening, animals, square-dancing, playing cards, driving around the country with Russell, the outdoors and spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. Maggie loved people and her neighbors were important to her. Maggie attended of New Life United Methodist Church and was a member of the Tamarack Twirlers and Square Dance Club.
Maggie is survived in death by her children Rhonda (Rasmussen) and Larry Stuckey of Coldwater, David and Susan Rasmussen of Lakeview; grandchildren Drs. Merisa (Chris) Toellner of Ludington, Monique Stokely of Ferndale, James Stokely of Lakeview, Richard Rasmussen of Lakeview, Cheyenne Rasmussen of Belding; step-grandchildren Joshua (Diana) Iteen of Six Lakes, Amanda Iteen and Jennifer Buttacavoli of Pensacola; great-grandchildren Sophia and Graham Toellner, great-step-grandchildren Zackery, Kari Ann and Isabella Iteen all of Six Lakes; several wonderful nieces, nephews and friends.
Maggie was preceded in death by her husband Russell Rasmussen, and parents Alvin and Emma Lea Smith, and one brother Richard Smith.
A private family only burial will be in Cato Township Cemetery. The family receive friends at a Celebration of Life at a later date.
