Margaret "Margie" Mary Carte's Obituary
Margaret “Margie” Mary Carte, 64, of Remus, Michigan, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of her husband and daughters. She was born on December 3, 1961, in Aurora, Illinois, to Gerald and Patricia May.
Margie earned her bachelor’s degree from Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin. She taught school for a short time before embracing the role she treasured most—raising her family. On August 18, 1984, she married the love of her life, Lee Carte. Together they built a beautiful life filled with faith, laughter, and unconditional love, celebrating many wonderful years together while raising their six children and later cherishing their sixteen grandchildren.
Margie found joy in life’s simple blessings. She loved tending to her gardens and was a proud member of the Blanchard Garden Club. She enjoyed canning the fruits of her labor, baking her famous banana bread, and spending time outdoors. Above all else, her grandchildren were the light of her life. Whether sharing stories, offering encouragement, or creating cherished memories, she poured her heart into each one of them.
A woman of deep and unwavering faith, Margie was a devoted member of Saint Michael’s Catholic Church. Her kindness, compassion, and steadfast devotion to her family and faith left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Margie is lovingly survived by her husband, Lee Carte; her father, Gerald May; her daughters, Emma Carte, Anna Carte, Eliza (James) Stover, Sophia (Spencer) Darter, Olivia (Jordan) Huff, and Sara (Kevin) Zoellner; her sisters, Sue (Paul) Mundschau and Mary May; and her beloved sixteen grandchildren: Ben, Josephine, Chase, Zoey, Zeb, J.R., Wes, Claire, Luke, Reed, Jane, George, Martha, Walter, Owen, and Roger.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Patricia May, and her brother, Jim May.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church, with Father Mike Alber serving as celebrant. There will be no visitation prior to the Mass. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be directed to Helen Devos Children’s Hospital.
Margie’s gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and boundless love for her family will be remembered always. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she cherished, and the countless memories she created with those she loved.
