Margaret A. "Peggy" Hall's Obituary
Stanwood Margaret A. Peggy Hall, 85, of Elmhurst, IL, formerly of Canadian Lakes, was called to her Lord Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. Peggy is fondly remembered as a modern woman, graduating as valedictorian of her high school class in Detroit. She embarked on a 35-year career with Michigan Bell, retiring as Operator Supervisor in 1978, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. In her youth she enjoyed pitching for the Michigan Bell softball team, and later watching her favorite team, the Detroit Tigers. Peggy enjoyed traveling, and her family fondly recalls many cross-country car trips. She also loved all types of music, singing and dancing. On June 9, 1945, she married Marvin Hall, and their family moved from Detroit to Canadian Lakes in 1972. Her husband preceded her in death on June 11, 1999, and Peggy moved to Elmhurst, IL in 2003 to be closer to her eldest daughter. She was a devout Christian, and was actively involved with her church. Between her remarkable spirit and resilience in the face of adversity, all will miss her laughter, smile and loving nature. Surviving are 2 daughters, Madeline (Ron) Sebonia of Elmhurst, IL, and Jennifer (Tim) Dora of Allendale, MI; 5 grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Elizabeth, Aaron, Alexandra, Rachael; 2 great grandchildren, Austin and Tyler; and many nieces and nephews. Also preceding her in death is 1 brother, William (Eleanor) Lawrence; 2 sisters, Elizabeth (late Howard) Brown, and Jane (Don) Molloy; and 3 brother-in-laws, Thomas (Edna) Walsh, Robert (late Evangeline) Hall, and John (late Alice) Hall. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 24, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Big Rapids, with her nephew, Pastor William Lawrence, officiating. Burial will follow in the Stanwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions for the Senior Meals on Wheels Program may be left at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, where Peggys family will greet friends Wednesday from 6-9 p.m., and at the church after 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
