Margaret Elaine Royer's Obituary
Margaret Elaine Royer, age 93, of Vestaburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. Margaret was born on February 22, 1927 to Elsie "Dot" (Mesick) and Arthur Crockett in Edmore MI. She graduated from Stanton High School in 1945. Margaret married the love of her life and her strongest support, Isaac Arthur "Art" Royer, in 1947. They were married for 54 years.
Margaret attended County Normal after high school which led to her first job teaching 8th grade
in a country school. Whilst raising two sons with her husband, Margaret spent nearly 20 years teaching/substituting while also attending night school at Central Michigan University. She graduated with her bachelors in 1962 and attained her masters in 1967. Margaret then went on to spend her career teaching in Edmore, Vestaburg and Montabella schools where she eventually became the principal. Teaching and loving children was very much a part of who Margaret was even long after she retired from the classroom. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to her and this was reflected in the time, patience, and love she shared with them. Margaret enjoyed playing card games with her friends and was known for her sharp wit and humor. She lived on a farm for the majority of her life and had a skilled green thumb. She loved the outdoors and spending time with her tight-knit circle of friends who seemed more like family. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Arthur; their two sons Mark and Bobby; her sisters, Alice and Phyllis; and her brother "Pat". She is survived by her sister, Darlys; her daughter in law, Marcia Royer of Kalamazoo; her grandchildren, Tricia (Brandon) Royer of Conschohoken, PA, Adam Royer of Battle Creek, and Rachel (Luke) Hollis of Brooklyn, NY; her great grandchildren, Olivia, Liam and Lily. Due to limitations caused by Covid-19, a memorial will be held in the spring or summer of 2021.
