Margaret "Maggie" V. Zimmerman's Obituary
Big Rapids- Margaret "Maggie" V. Zimmerman, 79, of Big Rapids passed away on Friday, December 31, 2010. She was born on January 25, 1931 in Grant, Michigan, the daughter of Frank and Erma (Lord) Robart. Maggie received her Associates Degree in Library Science in 1970 from Ferris State University. Maggie was employed at James Lundberg Bookstore at Ferris State University until her retirement. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Garnet; four sons, Daniel (MaryBeth), Matthew (Jean), Mark and Charles; five grandchildren, Jill (Kirby) Robertson, Kelly, Lori, Stuart (Heather) and Jennie Zimmerman, and three great grandchildren; Hannah, Quentin and Elise. Also, surviving are brother, Vernon (Gerry) Robart; and sister, Thelma Stuart. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bernard (Elsie) Robart. Maggie was known for her love of poetry, books, nature and flowers. She was a published poet in the Poetry Society of Michigan . and also contributed to "Reflections", a part of the Pioneer Newspaper. She volunteered her time as the Librarian at the United Church of Big Rapids for twenty-five years. A memorial service for Margaret will be 11 a.m. on Monday, January 10, 2011 at the United Church with Reverend Jon Fleming officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Church library.
