Marie E. Curtice's Obituary
Bitely Marie E. Curtice, 75, of Bitely, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2009, at her residence in Home Township. She was born October 13, 1933, in Baldwin, the daughter of Robert and Mary (Van Brocklin) Duffing. On October 13, 1949, she married Harold Curtice, and has lived in Home Township since. For over 10 years, Marie worked for Wolverine World Wide, and formerly served on the Home Township Zoning Board. She enjoyed working in her garden, and provided vegetables for Senior citizens. She also loved to hunt and fish (especially the Pere Marquette), as well as collect coins. Marie is survived by her loving husband Harold; 5 sons, Kenny (Betty) of Baldwin, Darrell (Debra) of Fremont, Donald (Loraine) of Bitely, Kent of Bitely, Stephan of Dudley, NC; 2 daughters, Jean (Bruce) Brown of Salina, OK, Meshelle (Bill) Kohler of Bitely; 25 grandchildren; 4 brothers, Robert (Jeanne) Duffing, Steven (Sharon) Duffing, Michael Duffing, James Beemer; 4 sisters, Patricia (Stan) Cousineau, Charletine Duffing, Elizabeth (Mike) Bosley, Marianne May; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ralph, William, and Donald Duffing, and sister Sharon Duffing. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Pastor Casey Arnouts officiating. Burial will be in the Curtice Cemetery on the family farm in Home Township. Memorial contributions for Hospice of Michigan may be left at the funeral home, where Maries family will greet friends on Tuesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m., and prior to services on Wednesday.
