Marie N. Laprise's Obituary
Marie N. Laprise, 100, of Big Rapids, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013, at her residence. She was born December 7, 1912, in Big Rapids, the daughter of Albert and Mary (Zimmerman) Nehmer, and lived in Big Rapids her entire life. For many years, Marie worked in Food Service at Ferris State College until retiring in 1975. Marie was a life member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where she was baptized, confirmed, and married. She formerly volunteered her time as a driver for the Mecosta County Commission on Aging, and loved working in her flower garden. Marie was preceded in death by her husband Francis in 1973. She is survived by 7 children, Marilyn Routley of Big Rapids, Betty Ann Murphy of Grand Ledge, Francis "Boo" Laprise of Big Rapids, Beverly Laprise of Big Rapids, Patricia (Jim) Miracle of Evart, Cheryl (Tom) Verburg of Morley, James E. Laprise of Stanwood; 16 grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was also preceded in death by 2 infant daughters, Jeanette and Shirley. Funeral services for Marie will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Big Rapids, with Pastor John Bookshaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland View Cemetery. Marie's family will greet friends after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions in her name may be made for her church.
