Marilyn Faling's Obituary
Lakeview-Marilyn (Van Liew) Faling, age 82, of Lakeview passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. She was born in Jackson, Michigan on May 25, 1943, the daughter of Francis and Helen (Luckey) Van Liew. Marilyn was raised in Saginaw where she attended St. Mary's Catholic School, graduating with the Class of 1961, and continued her education at Saginaw Business College. Marilyn married her beloved husband, Gale F. Faling on December 4, 1971, in Saginaw. She was employed in the administration department of various area hospitals throughout her career before she opened Marilyn's Boutique in Lakeview in 2017. Marilyn served on the board of directors of Community First Federal Credit Union for over 25 years and was a faithful member of the Lakeview Community Church from their start. Together she and Gale opened their home to many children as foster parents. Marilyn loved thrifting, collecting jewelry, spending time at their cabin in the Upper Peninsula and animals. She was known for taking in sick or injured animals of all kinds, bottle feeding them or whatever it took to nurse them back to health. She also fostered dogs for a local rescue organization. Marilyn enjoyed fishing, reading and cooking big family meals. She will be remembered as a loving and faithful farmer's wife, mother and grandmother, for her faith in God, and service to our community.Marilyn will forever be missed and is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gale Faling of Lakeview; children, Lyssa (William) Bode of Leuven, Belgium, Brian Seide of Tampa, FL, Herb (Brenda) Faling of Gladstone, Josh (Alicia) Faling of Six Lakes, Chris (Sheri) Faling of Six Lakes; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her grandson, Nathan; parents, Francis and Helen; and a brother, Michael Van Liew.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Lakeview Community Church in Lakeview with Pastor Dave Hansen officiating. The family will greet friends for visitation from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the church.Those wishing to donate in Marilyn's memory are asked to consider Lakeview Community Church's Youth Centre.
