Markay Susan Bucholtz's Obituary
Markay Susan (Moon) Bucholtz, age 72, of Lakeview passed away at her home on Monday, July 14, 2025.The oldest daughter of Bob and Patricia (Kinnee) Moon, Markay was born in Lakeview on December 3, 1952, where she was also raised. During high school, she was crowned homecoming queen her senior year and was also voted class artist and one of the prettiest girls. Markay graduated with the Class of 1971 and continued her education at Montcalm Community College.She married Rick Bucholtz on December 30, 1971, at South Hinton Church. Markay ran her own pet grooming business and was employed as a vet tech at the Lakeview Animal Clinic for 20 years. She enjoyed being outdoors, raising flowers, rescuing animals, teaching leather craft and riding horses.While raising her family, Markay was the president of Tamarack Nursery School and a 4-H leader. She spent many weekends at barrel racing events competing and cheering on both Brian and Rickay. She was also licensed to train racehorses and spent many weekends at Mt. Pleasant Meadows Racetrack, training her family's horses while Rick and Brian rode as jockeys. Markay was a hard worker who had a passion for serving her community and loved her family deeply.Markay is survived by her beloved husband of over 53 years, Rick Bucholtz of Lakeview; her son, Brian (Stephanie) Bucholtz of Six Lakes; her daughter, Rickay (Dan) Main of Trufant; three grandchildren, Emerson, Lola and Scarlett Main; two sisters, Melinda "Mindy" (Art) Hersey of Lakeview, and Monarae (Bill Boss) Moon of Howard City; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.She was preceded in death by her son, Brandon Scott Bucholtz in 1978; her parents, Bob and Pat Moon; and her brother, Michael Brian Moon.Funeral services for Markay will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview with Chaplain Heidi Woldhuis officiating. The family will greet friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will take place at Cato Township Cemetery.
