Marlene Ruth Scott's Obituary
Lakeview - Marlene Ruth (Eghotz) Scott, age 93, long time resident of Lakeview passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Lakeview Terrace surrounded by her family. She was born on December 16, 1931, the daughter of Harry and Ethel (Lovell) Eghotz in Coral where she was also raised. Marlene graduated from Lakeview High School with the Class of 1950 and continued her education at Kendall School of Design, earning an associate degree. She learned at a young age how to manage a farm household, auto repairs and carpentry skills that she was able to use throughout her life. In February of 1952 Marlene married Dean Alan Scott in Coral. She enjoyed being a wife, mother and home maker. Marlene kept herself busy decorating her home, repairing and refinishing furniture, hosting parties and tinkering. She was an excellent baker, her specialty being homemade cinnamon rolls. Marlene was a member of the United Church of Christ where she participated in choir and the women's group. She was an active volunteer in the community, supporting the Kelsey Hospital Guild, Tamarack District Library and Special Olympics where she would often dress up as a clown for events. Marlene will be remembered for her beautiful mischievous smile, fashion style and kind and loving heart.Marlene is survived by her son, Tom (Becky) Scott of Lakeview; granddaughter, Dawn Higbee; great-grandchildren, Calvin James and Rabakah Lynn Schutter.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dean; and her parents, Harry and Ethel.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the United Church of Christ in Lakeview with Pastor Bill Dodge officiating.
