Mary Magdalene Golupski's Obituary
After celebrating her last Christmas on Earth, Mary Magdalene Golupski passed away in the comfort of her Lansing home on December 28, 2023. Mary was the ninth child born to Edward and Elsie (Bauman) Simon of Remus. She was born on May 28, 1933. Mary was the youngest of her siblings and spent her formative years surrounded by land, siblings, and a multitude of relatives. In her early school days, Mary met her life-long love, Paul. After graduating High School, Paul went off to Flint to work briefly, then on to serve our Country. Mary ended up in Grand Rapids, supporting the efforts domestically. She worked at LearJet and stayed in contact with Paul through letters while awaiting his return home. Once they were reunited, Mary and Paul wed on May 4th, 1957, at St Michaels in Remus and settled their home at School Section Lake. Many a class reunion was hosted by the pair at their Mecosta home. Paul eventually was offered a Job in Lansing with the State of Michigan. They packed up and moved to the Capital where they raised their expanding family. Together they raised four children. She loved hosting, substitute teaching and volunteering with the Scouts. Family events were also among the highlight of her years. A prudent housewife, she loved scoring a good deal while shopping. Sometimes the love of the deal got the best of her, and she would buy something whether she “Actually” needed it or not because she was sure she could find someone who could use whatever it was she had purchased. After Paul retired, they spent a great deal of time traveling to all 50 states and enjoyed the life they created together. She found lots of trinkets during their travels, adding to her numerous collections. In May, they celebrated 66 years together. While Mary had a delightful, full life, she endured her fair share of sufferings with the loss of all eight of her siblings and a close niece. Siblings Bernice (Melvin Wonch), Helen (Mark Bott), Emma (Thor Torberson), Arnold (Lela), Edward-known as Jack (Orelie), Donna (Kenneth Helms), Theresa (William Weber), and Frances (Helen); Special niece Rose Etta Zielinski all preceded Mary in death. Left to mourn Mary are her beloved husband, Paul; Children Carol (Gregory) Heath, Francis (Cristine) Golupski, Edward Golupski, and Lynn (Tom) Revoldt; grandchildren, Monica (Dustin) San Miguel, David (Morgan) Heath, Kimberly Cox (with Jason Judge), Paul Golupski, Rand (Bridgette) Revoldt and Shawna (Adam) Kinne; Nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 11 AM at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus with Father Tom Boufford as Celebrant. The family will greet all an hour prior to the service. Memorial donations may be directed to The American Cancer, Heart, or Diabetes Associations. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
