Mary Renetta Grozenski's Obituary
Capping a life well-lived, Mary Renetta Grozenski passed away peacefully at the grand age of 90. Born on June 25, 1933 to Henry and Regina (Zbikowski) Fijalkowski in Detroit, Mary had a happy childhood growing up in Detroit’s golden era. Mary met Frank Grozenski during grade school, graduated with him in ‘51, and the sweethearts married in October of 1952.
Mary happily stayed home serving her community while Frank, an enlisted soldier, served his Country during the Korean war. When the children began to arrive, Mary kept up with the demanding and pleasing job of motherhood. She took great care of her household with a sense of pride in her abilities, particularly her exceptional sewing skills. She honed this craft through the years creating many beautiful and practical works with her hands.
A naturally cheerful woman, Mary lit up a room and always had a positive comment or spin on any problem. Her optimistic outlook kept her energies focused on raising her children well and helping others. After retirement, Frank and Mary moved to Canadian Lakes where they enjoyed the vibrant community of friends. If she wasn’t cooking up a delicious meal for a family gathering, she was sewing or working a puzzle. She rarely did anything for herself, always focused on serving her family. Mary will be dearly missed.
Surviving Mary is her husband of 71 years, Frank; her children, Robert (Renee) Grozenski, Edward (Denise) Grozeski, Lucy Grozenski, Michaelene (Michael) Malczewski, Ronald (Deborah) Grozenski, and Thomas (Karen) Grozenski; grandchildren, Philip (Stephanie), Brynn (Eric Viegas), Alexander, Ashley, Drew (Lauren), Hannah, Olivia, Brooke and Kyle; great-grandchildren, Myles, Emma, Bryson, Ellie, and Mason.
Preceding Mary in death was her son, Steven, granddaughter, Dena, and great-granddaughter, Sloane.
A Funeral Mass will take place on November 17, 2023, 12:00 noon at St. Michael Catholic Church, Remus with Father Tom Boufford as Celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior from 11:00am - 12:00pm. Burial will take place in St. Michael Cemetery immediately following the service. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to God’s Helping Hands in lieu of flowers.
