Mary Ann Main's Obituary
Lakeview- Mary Ann Main, age 98, of Six Lakes, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. Mary was born on February 18, 1926, to her parents, Andrew L. and Helga E. (Hansen) Peterson. She was raised in Trufant where she attended and graduated from Maple Valley Township schools in 1943. Mary then attended Davenport Institute in Grand Rapids, Michigan to further her education. She worked for a year at Peck Drug Store, then returned to Lakeview to work for R.W. Petersen implement store for 6 years. She later went to work at the Farmers Elevator in Lakeview for 25 years before she retired in 2002. On August 30, 1947, Mary married Richard S. Main. Together they had 5 children and lived on their farm in Cato Township. Mary and Richard spent over 59 years together before Richard passed away in October of 2006. Mary accomplished many things in her life. She served on the Lakeview school board in the early 1970's, the Kelsey Hospital Board from 1960 through 1970, and she served on the planning committee for Montcalm Community College. Mary worked at the Lakeview Library and was also a Lakeview school bus driver for 15 years. Mary was not only a member of the New Life United Methodist Church, but she also acted as their treasurer for over 20 years. Mary will be greatly missed by her children, Jim (Val) Main of Mason, Jane Main of Lakeview, Marilyn (Mark) Jasonowicz of Torch Lake, Michigan, Paula (Kelly) Hall of Vandalia, Michigan, Paul (Joan) Main of Six Lakes; Grandchildren, Ted and Charles Main, Jacklyn Petlicki, Daniel and Joseph Main, Kevin and Kailyn Jasonowicz, Jill Zagar, Heather Rhodes and Jordan Hall, along with 13 great grandchildren; Sister, Nettie Jane Eskin of Armada, Michigan; Sister-in-law Eva Main of Lakeview, Michigan, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard; Parents, Andrew and Helga Peterson; brother, Winston Peterson and sister Eloise Covell.Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at New Life United Methodist Church at 2 PM with Pastor Mark Mitchell officiating. Family will greet friends starting at 1PM until the time of service. In Lieu of flowers the family asks that any contributions made in Mary's honor to New Life United Methodist Church or the Lakeview Wellness Center.
