Mary, also known as Queen of Quail Lane by we Scrabblers, has been a cheery part of my life for some 15 years.
I met her at the local Writers Quest where she recited some of her many, excellent and entertaining poems.
We soon realized that with our love of words, we would play Scrabble together.
Over the years we have met on a monthly basis with different members of Canadian Lakes and more recently with Holly Miller and Stacey Wesley.
We have laughed, cried, shared memories and quality time together.
The last game we played a couple of weeks ago, Mary had a setback.
Once again she was winning the game and during her episode we repeatedly applauded her achievement.
Always a twinkle in her eye, a kind smile, a gentle nature, it was obvious that Mary and Jim had an entertaining 30 or so years together.
Laughter was always in the air.
I shall miss you Mary, but know you had a long and fulfilling life.
