Mary Ilene Nichols' Obituary
Big Rapids-Mary Ilene Nichols,77, of Big Rapids, died on Monday, February 21, 2011 at Mecosta County Medical Center. Mary was born March 12, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan to Carl F. and Loretta A. (Byrnes) Glazier. She was married to William James Nichols of Chicago, Illinois on March 1, 1953. Together, they made their home in Morley, Michigan. They later moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan where Mary worked for over 20 years as a driver for the Grand Rapids Transit Authority. He preceded Mary in death in 2000. Along with her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Veronica (Frank) Scott of California, Alice Wimer of Virginia, and brother Richard (Patricia) Glazier of Big Rapids. She is survived by her sisters, Nancy (William) Eddy of Florida, Linda (Richard) Luce of Big Rapids, her brother, Tom (Janice) Glazier of Big Rapids and sister-in-law, Patricia Glazier of Reed City and their children. Also surviving are her children, Debra (Pat) Eckerly of Florida, Gail (Gary) Dolbee of Lakeview, Bill (Sylvia) Edwards of Big Rapids, Kris Edwards of Grand Rapids and her stepson Terry (Linda) Edwards of Indiana and her 13 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 3-6p.m., Sunday, February 27 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Marys Catholic Church with Father Lam T. Le celebrant at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 28.
