Mary Julie Rickard's Obituary
Petoskey- Mary Julie Rickard, 79, of Boyne Falls, passed away on Saturday. August 18, 2018 at her home surrounded by loved ones.
Mary was born November 5, 1938, in Saginaw, the daughter of Harold and Dorothy (Phillips) Trowbridge.
On June 22, 1957, at the age of 16, Mary married her high school sweetheart, Rocky (Richard) Rickard in Flint, and they moved to Boyne City in 1966. Rocky feels he has lost the angel he was given to him when he was 17, and now has his own personal angel in Heaven. They just celebrated their 61st anniversary.
For 21 years, Mary worked as a secretary at Boyne City High School. She also cared for and volunteered many hours at Bortz Nursing Home. Mary was a member of Trinity Missionary Church in Petoskey.
Mary will be remembered as a kind, giving, selfless prayer warrior who believed in and loved the Lord. The lives of her family and friends will be forever changed as she will be missed in every aspect of their lives, including weddings, graduations, birthdays, plays, soccer games, track and cross country meets. Her famous meals and desserts were enjoyed by all.
She is survived by her husband Richard (Rocky) Rickard; children, Dotti (Jim) Thomas, Mitch Rickard, Todd (Marie) Rickard, and Steve Rickard; grandchildren, Cameron and Nikki Rickard, Jenn and Chris Burgess, Brett and Brooke Somero, Jimmy and Katrina Thomas, Maddy Somero, Courtney and Mike Hall, Julie Thomas, and Chaney, Cambry, and Avery Rickard; great-grandchildren, Landon, Kiah, and Brady Burgess, Ethan and Emma Thomas, and Harry and Margot Hall; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Trinity Missionary Church, 600 N. Division Road in Petoskey, with Pastor Steve Beigle officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Mary's family will greet friends at the church on Wednesday, August 22, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and also on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Memorial contributions in her name may be made for her church, or Hospice of Michigan.
