Maverick McDonough Williams' Obituary
Maverick McDonough Williams, age 28, of Royal Oak, Michigan, passed away on April 16, 2025. Born on September 14, 1996, to Matthew Williams and Julie McDonough, Maverick lived a life full of curiosity, compassion, and adventure.
A true outdoorsman at heart, Maverick found joy in snowboarding, kayaking, camping, and going "swamping"—always seeking new ways to experience the world around him. He had a natural talent for fixing things and a mind constantly at work, whether building model rockets or tinkering with robotics. His love for plants and his passion for agronomy led him to a meaningful career in the agriculture industry, where he worked as an agronomist dedicated to sustainable practices and innovation.
Maverick's heart was as big as his imagination. He was a dedicated advocate for animals, involved in rescue and rehabilitation efforts whenever he could. He was equally fascinated by nature’s healing powers, spending much of his time researching natural medicines in hopes of helping others live healthier lives.
Those who knew Maverick will remember his generous spirit, his relentless curiosity, and his unwavering love for the natural world. His sense of wit and humor was legendary to all who met him. He made a lasting impression on everyone he met, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, intelligence, and purpose.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Matthew Williams (Tammi Johnson), Julie McDonough (Scott Tafil); grandparents, Ann and Harold Williams; uncle, Chad Williams. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Timothy and Nancy McDonough and his aunt, Alison Miller.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service celebrating Maverick’s life will be held on May 30, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (1950 S. Baldwin Rd, Lake Orion, MI 48360). Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM, prior to the service. Following the memorial, a luncheon will be held—please RSVP if you plan to attend. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to suicide prevention or your favorite animal shelter/animal rescue or plant a tree in his honor
Maverick will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and all the lives he touched.
