Maxine Lorraine Helms' Obituary
Lakeview- Maxine Lorraine Helms, age 85, of Lakeview, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2019, at Bell Tower Senior Apartments in Lakeview. She was born on February 12, 1934 in Erhard, Minnesota to Lester J. and Amanda M. (Olson) Hazelton.
Maxine married Harry Helms on January 24, 1954 and had 62 wonderful years of marriage. Together they raised four sons and both enjoyed snowmobiling, gathering with friends, neighbors, and especially family time playing cards and board games.
Maxine served as a Cub Scout den mother for many years. She was employed at Hi-Q Industries in Lakeview for 10 years. She spent many hours crocheting, bowling, gardening, crafting and reading.
Maxine will be greatly missed by her sons James (Christine) Helms, Terry (Kathleen) Helms, Lonny Helms (Renee Riojas), John (Lisa) Helms, all of Lakeview; sister-in-law Jane Eldred of Blanchard, brother-in-law Richard Rees of Greenville, sister-in-law Vera Helms of Trufant; eight grandchildren Shawn (Lynn) Helms of Allendale, Brandon (Elizabeth) Helms of Allegan, Ashley (Dan) Leyder of Stanwood, Troy Helms, Matthew Helms of Lakeview, Adam Helms of Vestaburg, Jason (Amy) Helms of Kansas City, Missouri, Jonathan (Stephanie) Helms of Grand Rapids; seven great-grandchildren Harrison and Charli Helms, Clayton and Patrick Helms, Cru and Ellis Leyder, Jonathan L. Helms; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Harry; parents Lester and Amanda Hazelton; an infant sister Mildred Hazelton; and her brother Arnold Hazelton.
Funeral services for Maxine will be held on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Brigham Funeral Chapel 9977 W. Howard City-Edmore Rd. Lakeview, Michigan 48850 with Pastor David England officiating. The family will be greeting visitors at 10:00 AM until the start funeral service. The family will have a private burial service. Contributions in memory of Maxine may be made to Brigham Funeral Chapel to assist with the funeral expenses.
