Melvin W. Jolley's Obituary
Mecosta - Melvin W. Jolly, 94, of Mecosta, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Royal View Retirement Community in Canadian Lakes. He was born July 4, 1922, in Champaign, IL, the son of Lester and Lucille (Barham) Jolley. During World War II, Melvin served with the U.S. Army. Melvin retired as a service supervisor from MichCon/DTE Energy in Grand Rapids after 38 years. Following retirement, he moved to Round Lake near Mecosta. Melvin was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Fran (Tahaney) Jolley. Surviving are 2 daughters, Michele Boley of Portage, and Pat (Gale) Mortensen of Mecosta; 4 grandchildren, Chris Estep, Scott (Tracey) Boley, Tim (Stephanie) Mortensen, and Shawn (Char-Lin) Mortensen; plus 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; a sister-in-law Wanda Tahaney of Grand Rapids; and 2 nieces, Kathy and Laurie. Private graveside services and interment will be at the Grandville Cemetery in Grandville. Memorial contributions in his name may be made for the Albert Schiffer VFW Post 2335 in Mecosta to support the pancake breakfast. Envelopes are available at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, where arrangements are entrusted.
