Melvin "Mel" Erich Mossner's Obituary
Melvin Erich Mossner, age 67, peacefully passed away in his sleep on Monday, July 19th, 2021, at his home in Saint Charles, Michigan. Melvin, known to friends and family as Mel, was born September 5, 1953 to Erwin and Frieda (Reinert) Mossner. He was raised in rural Hemlock, where he grew to love farm life, and graduated from Hemlock High School. Mel was a John Deere collector, an avid yard-saler, and he really enjoyed canning fruits and veggies, jams and jellies. He loved going apple and berry picking. He spent several seasons working at Leaman's Green Applebarn until his health started to deteriorate last year. He also loved to dance to live music and could often be found at the Eagles club or a local bar, enjoying himself on the dance floor and laughing with friends. He was well known to the Tony's restaurant staff, where he went for coffee and company.
Mel will be missed by his daughter, Jill (Paul) Callison; his daughters in heart, Amanda (Andrew) Reed and Summer Boone; his granddaughters, Faith, Maya, Naomi, Emily and Grace; his siblings, Richard Mossner and Donald Mossner; many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mel was preceded in death by his longtime partner Char Boone in 2019; his sisters, Betty and Barbara; lifelong friend, Dick Haas; and both of his parents.
There will be a small family and close friends memorial held on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at the home of Mel's brother, Donald Mossner; time to be announced. This will be closed to the public.
