Melvin Edwin Ryan's Obituary
Melvin Edwin Ryan, age 86 of Mecosta passed away September 3, 2014 at his home. Services will be held Wednesday, September 10 at 11:00 am at New Hope United Methodist Church with Pastor Greg Buchner officiating. Visitation will be held at Hansen Janowicz Funeral Home in Remus on Tuesday, September 9 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will take place at Reed City Cemetery.
Melvin was born on July 26, 1928, the son of Wayne and Hilda (Compton). He was very involved at the New Hope Church and the construction of the church memorial garden. He loved landscaping and woodworking. While in Florida during the winter months, he was on the Landscape Committee. He also built four homes during his lifetime. Melvin was very family oriented, enjoying his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Words used to describe him were hard working, loving, passionate, caring, giving and truly dedicated to family.
Melvin served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in California.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Beverly; one son, Gary Wayne (Teresa) Ryan; one daughter, Cindy Lee (Randy) Richardson; one brother, Merle (Patricia) Ryan; five grandchildren, Michael (Gretchen), Donald (Melanni), Becky (Nicholas), Stacey (Bryson), Russell (Josie); and great-grandchildren, Kaylynn, Owen, Issac, Autumn, Breanna, Brianna, and Sadie.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris June; an infant son, Daniel; two brothers, Ronnie and Keith Ryan.
Those who wish to remember Melvin in a special way may contribute to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association or Spectrum Hospice of Big Rapids. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
