Merle D. Galbreath's Obituary
Stanwood - Merle D. Galbreath, 84, of Stanwood, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital. He was born January 9, 1934, in Livonia, the son of Leonard and Faye (Helvie) Galbreath, and graduated from Rockford High School in 1952. Merle then served in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge in 1962. Merle worked for Wolverine World Wide for many years, retiring as an inspector in 1996. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family, and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Merle married his wife Helen in 1956, and she preceded him in death in 1990. He is survived by his daughter Lurena (Richard) Williams of Rogers Heights; grandchildren Chad (Katie) Williams, Cami (Keith) Tyler, and Cayden (Ashley) Williams; great-grandchildren Cameron, Carson, and Chloe Tyler, and Calista Williams; brothers Floyd and Stan Galbreath; sister Maryellen Miller; and special friend Marilyn Galbreath. He was also preceded in death by his sister Marion Miller. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2018, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Rev. Randy Piatt officiating. Burial will be in the Stanwood Cemetery. Merle's family will greet friends at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorial contributions in his name made be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
