Merle Bernard Webster's Obituary
Lakeview - Merle Bernard Webster, age 89, of Lakeview passed away at his home on Sunday, January 15, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born on March 22, 1933, in White Cloud to Gordon and Gladys (Arnold) Webster. Merle was raised in the Hardy Dam area where he attended White Cloud Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 1951. He married the love of his life, Betty Jean Swartwood on March 15, 1952, at the White Cloud Methodist Church. Merle was employed for 43 years by Bollinger's Inc. in Lakeview as the parts department manager. He was then employed by Best Buy in Grand Rapids, where he enjoyed his younger co-workers and their never-ending curiosity as to what Betty had packed in his lunch. Merle had a real passion for being the owner of Mid-Michigan Flag for many years, supplying numerous cemeteries, area businesses and homes with flags and banners of all sizes at a fair price. He was a member of the Brockway Wesleyan Church and loved being supportive of their youth and academy events. Merle was a kindhearted, hardworking man who was known for cheering for the underdog. He enjoyed bird watching, fishing, camping, gardening and working in his yard.Merle will forever be missed and is survived by his children, Barb (David) Moser of Carson City, Diane (Loren) Hamilton of Six Lakes, Steve (Jackie) Webster of Lakeview, Jeff (Sherry) Webster of Lake Okeechobee, FL; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; sister, Vivian (Ray) Wawsczyk of White Cloud; brother-in-law, Robert "Bob" Fowler of Grant; many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; parents, Gordon and Gladys; brothers, Forest Webster, Larry Webster; and sister, Sheryl Fowler.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at the Brockway Wesleyan Church, 10951 3 Mile Rd., Morley, with Pastor Jeff Lemire and Pastor Roger Cooper officiating. The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 18, at the church.
