Michael Lyman Grosebeck's Obituary
Big Rapids - Michael L. Grosebeck, 45, of Big Rapids, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022, at his residence.
He was born November 15, 1976, in Big Rapids, the son of Merle and Alice (Hatfield) Grosebeck, and lived in Big Rapids his entire life. Mike was a life member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and School, where he was baptized and confirmed, and graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1995.
In his younger years, Mike worked for Tiel's Mobile Station in Big Rapids, and for 10 years for Sub-Surface Construction. More recently, he had worked as a self-employed painter, and was a member of the Laborers' International Union of North America.
Mike was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting, fishing, and 4-wheeling. He was a wonderful friend to all, and if he had it, you could borrow it! Mike was also an animal lover as well, with Buckshot being his current four- legged friend, and enjoyed raising ducks and chickens. Spending time around the campfire at the cottage at Pickeral Lake was also a favorite pastime of Mike's.
He is survived by his mother Alice; his brother Matthew; his dear cousins Mark and Carla Hatfield, and their daughters Christina and Chelsea; aunts and uncles Bob Hatfield, Gary and Russell Grosebeck, Linda Palethorpe, and Delores Cross; and other cousins and close friends. Mike was preceded in death by his father Merle on November 16, 2000.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Big Rapids, with Pastor John Bookshaw officiating. Mike's family will greet friends at the church beginning at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at the church. Memorial contributions in his name may be made for St. Peter's, or the Animal Rescue Coalition (ARC) of Mecosta County. Care and arrangements are entrusted to the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
