Michael Lee Baird's Obituary
It was a glorious fall Saturday, September 21, 1946 When Michael Lee Baird was born. He was indeed a gift. He left us on March 27, 2015. Mick was a lifelong resident of Lakeview , Michigan , graduating from Lakeview High School in 1964. Immediately following, he entered Tool & Die trade. For the next 52 years he plied his trade at several shops. He was vice president of Tomco Tool & Die and in 1999 opened his own business, Steeplechase Tool & Die Inc., in Lakeview. He took great pride in his company, working tirelessly to see it bloom and grow.
There was nothing he could not fix, repair, build, or engineer. He was a master planner who never lost a battle until he met up with a vile disease in 2013.
He was continually nurturing - whether it be thoroughbred horses, fruit trees, asparagus plants, young employees, or the garden. His guidance and encouragement to family and employees will be sorely missed.
The booming laugh has been stilled and the legendary wink of his eye forever closed.
He was preceded in death by his father Loren R. Baird and Granddaughter Amanda Baird.
Left behind is wife Linda, who is certain he hung the moon, Mother Lavon Baird, Sisters Lorna Kay Kierepka and Dana Grizzard. Children John Baird, Quent Baird, Dan Baird, Rachel Vandyke, and Chris Logan, and twelve grandchildren. Also aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.
A gathering to meet with his family will take place at Brigham Funeral Chapel on Sunday, April 12, 2015 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM.
The funeral service will be Monday, April 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Grace Community Church , Reed Road , in Howard City, Michigan. A luncheon will follow.
Donations in Mick's honor may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church , Lakeview , MI .
