Muriel Jane Gundy's Obituary
Muriel Jane Gundy, age 85, of Morley, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025. Muriel was born in Crystal, Michigan on August 20, 1939, to David and Mary (Baker) Sigsby. She grew up in McBride and graduated from McBride High School in 1957.After high school, Muriel spent many years in Lakeview. She married Richard Gundy of Morley in December of 1995. Muriel retired as a bookkeeper from United Memorial Hospital in Greenville. She was active as an officer in the VFW Auxiliary, she also was a member of the Lakeview Child Study Group, Bethel Lutheran Church, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and the Big Rapids Antique and Power Club. Muriel was a much loved 4-H leader, who often provided breakfast for the 4-Hers during Fair Week. Muriel enjoyed supporting and cheering on her granddaughters' sports and activities as part of the Grandma Cheerleading Crew with her best friend, Sandy. Muriel shared her love by making blankets and afghans for her loved ones and so many babies. She liked to read, cook, garden, play cards and spend time with friends and family. She loved to start most mornings with her breakfast crew at the Legion in Morley.Muriel will be missed by her children, Diane Dunklau and Dennis (Karen) Brasington; her grandchildren, Kiersten Dunklau, Caroline Dunklau, Lindsey (Tory) Recker, Kristina (Nate) Rousseau, and Bridget Dunklau; her great grandchildren, Ella Rousseau, Robert and Riley Recker who gave her much joy. She was loved by her sister, Harriet Hansen; her sister-in-law, Kathy Sigsby; her dear friend, Sandra Buskirk; her cousins, many nieces and nephews, neighbors, family and friends. She was greatly loved by the members of Lakeview Terrace Assisted Living Community.Muriel was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Gundy; her parents; her brother, Charles Sigsby; her brother-in-law. Raymond Hansen; her niece, Shelda Brasington; nephews, Rick and Craig Hansen.Funeral services for Muriel will take place on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 1pm at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview Michigan with Pastor Alexander Sabol officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 11am-1pm. Private interment will take place at Higbee Cemetery, Morley Michigan.
