Nancy Mae Randall's Obituary
The Remus community lost a bright star with the passing of Nancy Mae Randall on the 19th of May, 2023. Nancy arrived right in the midst of a bustling family, the 4th of 7 children, to Clarence and Helen (Swenor) Ellise. She came as a gift between Thanksgiving and Christmas on November 30, 1940.
Raised in Marquette, Nancy grew on solid values and had a hardy fervor for Michigan. At 17, she met and married the love of her life, Ronald, on October 5, 1957. She carried that UP spirit with her, avoiding crowds and quietly raising their three children. That is except if the crowds were at the casino where she loved to laugh and try her luck now and then.
Nancy was never one to beat around the bush, family and friends always knew where they stood with her even if her words were a bit blunt. Big Nance, as she was known, may have been quiet, but carried a feisty nature, especially if she thought someone was wronged. She attended New Hope United Methodist Church and was a frequent sight at volunteer events and Sunday services. She also was an active member of The Stars in Six Lakes, carrying the sense of duty and passing on goodness to the next generation.
Her grandchildren were the joy of her elder years and surrounded herself with them when she could. She cultivated a lovely flower garden and adored hummingbirds, setting out feeders each spring with joy to wait for the new arrivals. She will be greatly missed by both her family and nature.
Left to carry on her memory are her husband, Ronald; Children Frank (Ronda) Randall, Mike (Jody) Randall, and Kim Wilder; Brother Dale; sisters, Barb, Shirley, Chris, and Bonnie; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren plus two on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Junior.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 24th at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to Residential hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
