Nile Ralph Pool's Obituary
Pool, Nile 7/15/1938 - 4/25/2021 The Lord called Nile R. Pool, age 82, of Six Lakes, MI, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle to his heavenly home to be re-united with the love of his life, Shirley on April 25th, 2021. Surviving is his son, Allen (Chris) Pool of Battle Creek, MI; daughter, Susan Pool-Vogelsong and Bill Muller of Six Lakes, MI; 6 grandchildren, Joseph McDaniel-Pool, Angela (Steven) Pender, Daniel Pool, Lacy (Kevin) Howe, and Tracy Vogelsong; 1 great grandchild, Grayson Pender; 2 sisters, Doris Baird of Grand Rapids and Nora Pool of Six Lakes; 1 aunt, Ruth McCandless of Florida; many nieces and nephews. Nile was proceeded in death by his bride of 55 years, Shirley; his parents, Amos and Nellie (Thume) Pool; 2 brothers, Williard and Amos and 2 sisters, Jaunita (Pool) Painter and Cora (Pool) Densmore.
Nile joined the Navy in 1955, at which time he bought a pair of roller skates in Norfolk, VA which he used in many countries around the world while serving on the USS John S McCain. He was married to the love of life, Shirley, in 1962. Along with roller skating, Nile enjoyed bowling and fishing, especially ice fishing. Nile retired from General Electric/Hitachi in Edmore, MI after 35 years of service. Nile and Shirley enjoyed traveling and later Nile became Shirley's official photographer, taking pictures for articles she wrote for the paper. Over the years you could find Nile every morning at the gas station in Six Lakes, talking to friends, and catching up on the news of the day. He loved to visit with people and was always willing to lend someone a hand.
A funeral service for Nile will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview with Pastor Tom Colburn officiating. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, April 28 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Brigham Funeral Chapel and again on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Six Lakes.
