Nina Ruth Barnes' Obituary
Nina Ruth Barnes age 90, passed away Monday evening July 24, 2017, at Woodland Hospice in Mt. Pleasant MI. Nina was born April 14, 1927 in Pogy, MI, the daughter of George and Belle (Boyce) Bowman. Nina was united in marriage to Dorman Barnes on December 04, 1948 in Reed City; he preceded her in death on May 03, 2014.
Nina worked as a librarian for several years before retiring after 15 years working with the Montabella Schools as a Food Service Employee. She enjoyed going to garage sales, reading, walking, collecting pig memorabilia and going for rides and stopping along the way to any craft shows they could find. But most of all, Nina enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.
Nina is survived by her children; DeeLores (David) Stoepker of Six Lakes and Dale (Mary) Barnes of Vestaburg, five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband Dorman, Nina was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.
A Celebration of life Service for Nina will take place Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 1:00 PM from Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 530 W. Howard City Edmore Rd, Edmore MI 48829. Pastor Marcia Schultz to officiate. Visitation will also take place Thursday, at the church from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Evart, MI at 11:00 AM Friday, July 28, 2017. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider the "Wishes of the Family".
