Norma Pauline Britton's Obituary
Big Rapids, Norma Pauline Britton, 88, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010.She was born August 2, 1921 in Barton Township, Newaygo County, the daughter of Carl and Ida Gertrude (Schooley) Madison. On February 12, 1947 she married Maxwell E. Britton in Big Rapids. Norma retired after 14 years from the food service department at Ferris State University in 1986 and then worked part time there until 1998. She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Big Rapids. She enjoyed tending her flowers, watching sports, being Mom, grandma and aunt to her family. Surviving Norma are two sons, Richard (Kathleen) Britton of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia andDonald (Melinda) Britton of Big Rapids, six grandchildren, Jennifer, Nathaniel, Zachary, Nicholas (Katie),Megan and Kristen Britton, plus four nephews and four nieces. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Maxwell in 2005, two brothers, Wallace Madison, Donald Madison and one sister Lorita (Madison) Youngs. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 15, 2010 at First United MethodistChurch with Rev. Dean Prentiss officiating. Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Fremont. Memorial contributions for Heartland Hospice and the First United Methodist Church Outreach Committee may be left at the Mohnke Funeral Home where Normas family will greet friends on Sunday, February 14, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Normas family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Terrace for their kindness and care.
