Norma Jean Walter's Obituary
Lakeview - Norma Jean Walter, age 84 of Coral, Michigan, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017. Norma was born in Coral, Michigan, on December 12, 1933 to Norman and Jessie (Boomer) Gage.
She was raised in the Coral area and graduated from Howard City High School. She continued her education at Huntington College in Huntington, Indiana where she earned her teaching degree. She started her teaching career in Grand Rapids, Michigan. On July 18, 1959, she married James L. Walter in Seymour, Wisconsin. Norma spent the next years of her life raising her family and caring for many of the neighborhood children. She went on to teach at Lakeview Elementary School for more than 20 years, retiring in 1999. She enjoyed quilting, reading, knitting, singing, working in her flower gardens, and especially she loved to have children around.
Norma is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, James L. Walter, 5 children, Michael J. Walter of Vicksburg, MI, Beth Ann (Walter) Hannabass of Springfield, TN, Joel M. Walter of Cedar Springs, MI, Brenda Jean (Darren) Ladermann of Greenville, MI, and Paul N. Walter of Coral, MI, 9 grand children, Louis, Olivia, James (Heather), Rachel, Hillary (Jonny), Marley (Abram), Darrek, and Mazie, and 2 great grand children Hayden and Sterling.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Jessie Gage, 2 brothers, Donald and Calvin Gage and 2 Sisters, Arlene Powell and Shirley Watson.
