Norman "Ed" Powell's Obituary
Lakeview - Norman "Ed" Edward Powell, age 66, of Lakeview, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Spectrum Health Kelsey Campus. Ed was born August 28, 1949 in Lakeview, the son of J. Arlene Powell and Russell Powell and grew up in Coral. Ed was a veteran of the Vietnam War in the Army 2/1 Cavalry. Before becoming totally disabled, "Ed" was employed as an Electrician. Ed had much love and gratitude for Point Man International, a non-denominational Christian based outreach for all Veterans. Ben Webster was instrumental in Ed's journey through PTSD. Ed loved his children and grandchildren. He loved to garden and putter in the yard. He also loved to go to Trufant Flea Market, yard sales, and tinker with solar energy. He was with and married to the love of his life, Elana Lee for 30 years.
Ed will be missed by his wife, Elana Powell; children Edward (Linda) Powell, Sally (Ed) Nieto, Janette (Tom) Boden, Cory Powell, and Michelle (Michael) Wilcox; 20 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; father-in-law John (Sherry) Fox and Bradley and Bethany and families; and two very special pets Jasmine and AJ.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Arlene Powell.
A celebration of Ed's life will be held Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview, MI, with Ben Webster officiating. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Point Man Ministries.
