Norman John Johansen's Obituary
Norman John Johansen, age 86, of Jonesville, MI, formerly of Rodney, passed away Monday, January 7, 2013. He was born in Martiny Township on June 3, 1926, the son of Carl E. and Nina J. (Martiny) Johansen, Norman served with the US Army in Germany during WWII. He was one of the founding members of the Red Fox Sportsmen Club where he enjoyed many years of membership and was one of the top trap shooters. After retiring, Norman lived for fishing and his fish frys, sharing his large gardens and listening to the old time fiddlers. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Doris, daughter Katherine (Brian); sons, Darrell (Linda) and David (Connie); four grandsons, five granddaughters, seven great-grandchildren, brothers Carl (Betty), Charles (Judith), Floyd (Mary) and Glenn; sisters, Ida Mae (Jim) Maneke, Arlene (Herb) Wilson, Josephine, Ruth Ann (Dan) McCarthy, Barbara (Glenn) Dalton, 2 sisters-in-law, Pat and Betty Johansen, plus many nieces and nephews. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, sons Roy Edward and Lloyd Allen, and four brothers, Raymond, Robert, Edward and Gerald. Funeral services for Norman will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2013, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Pastor Rebecca Morrison officiating. Interment will be at the Martiny Cemetery in Rodney. His family will greet friends from 5 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 10 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, or one may plant a tree in his memory.
