How do you measure a man’s life? Who knew the names of every grocery store checker; who went to his students’ soccer games in the rain and brought in treats during exam week; who helped steer them to strive for more and find their Read Obituary

I am so sad to hear of Dr. DiRaddo's passing! He was my professor in undergrad for Organic Chemistry, but I remember him more specifically as the enthusiastic advisor for the pre-optometry club! When I joined the faculty in the College of Optometry, he would invite me to talk to the club periodically. As a fellow Big Rapids resident, we would frequently cross paths at the grocery store or in the local parks, and I would always look forward to his cheerful hello, and genuine interest in how things were going. His impact on our pre-optometry students is immeasurable, and he will be greatly missed at Ferris and in the community. I share deepest condolences with his family and loved ones.
He was “Mr Di Raddo” when I was just a kid going to sleepovers with his daughter, but he became an inspiration when I decided to pursue a career first-gen scientist. I could never thank him enough for making my academic goals attainable, and for writing me letters of recommendation for graduate school. Whenever I visited home and ran into him (inevitably) at Meijer, he always had a huge smile on his face. The scientific community and the Big Rapids community have lost a truly wonderful human.
The Ferris State University Emeriti Association wishes to express our condolences on your loss.

Dr. Di Raddo met me in the aisle on graduation day 2017 to give me a big hug. I will never forget the hours we spent together on a whiteboard and his commitment to my understanding of organic chemistry. RIP my friend
