Patricia "Pat" Ann Hinrichs' Obituary
Lakeview-Patricia "Pat" Ann Hinrichs, age 89, of Castle Pines, Colorado, formerly of Lakeview, MI, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Skyridge Medical Center in Lone Tree, CO. She was born in Milwaukee, WI on April 1, 1934, the daughter of Earl and Ethel (Stuntzner) Lock. Patricia was raised in Milwaukee before moving to Madison, WI, and graduated from East High School in 1952. She continued her education at the University of Wisconsin, where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta, earning degrees in both English and Community Recreation. Patricia also earned her master's degree in communication from the University of Northern Colorado Greeley. Pat was employed by Trans World Airlines from 1956-1958. She then married the greatest love of her life, Ronald Arthur Hinrichs, on April 12, 1958. Pat continued her career as the Austin Minnesota High School English and Community Recreation Teacher from 1958-1960. She worked for the Moorhead Minnesota Public Library Director Adult Services, and YMCA Day Camp Programs from 1960-1964. She was the Camp Fire Girls Director, and MOER Day Care Director from 1969-1970. Pat was also an educator and Dean of Academic Standards National College of Business, and the Executive Director of Women and Violence in Rapid City S. D. from 1970-1982. She was the Women's Center Director in Watertown S. D. from 1982-1983. She also was the Harriet Tubman Women's Shelter Program Director from 1983-1986 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Pat then moved to Michigan, becoming the Aware Inc. Executive Director in Jackson, MI. She then worked for the Community Mental Health in Ionia, Catholic Services in Stanton, MI, and the Lakeview School Board, the "We Care for Kids Council" in Stanton, "Families First" preservation project in Lakeview, the Michigan Domestic Violence Advisory Board in Ionia, and Montcalm Counties. She was a Tamarack District Library Board Member, a CASA Board Member, a Montcalm Community College Trustee, and a United Church of Christ Board Member, before retiring in 2020. She led a Selfless life and dedicated her life to helping others until moving to Colorado where she was still involved with her community. She enjoyed traveling, college sports, theater, outdoor activities, movies, and spending time with friends and family. She also enjoyed continuing her educational experiences, high school sports, community events and acting in local theater, good food and drink, and entertaining. Pat will be missed by one daughter, Ronna Noel Phelps; her beloved Pug, Eloise; nephews, Erik Farseth and Timothy Hughes; sister-in-law, Cherie Farseth; brother-in-law, Richard Hughes; and great nephews, Billy and Tommy Hughes, Austin and Brandon Johns; and grandchild, Logan Glenn Phelps. Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Hinrichs; parents, Ethel and Earl Lock; sister, Constance Hughes; and a niece, Kathy Hughes Johns. Funeral services for Pat will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the Lakeview United Church of Christ with Pastor Dave England officiating. The family will greet friends from 12:30 until the time of service at the church, with interment at Lakeview Cemetery. Everyone is welcome to attend "Pat's Picnic" from 4:30-7:00 PM at Lakeside Park.
