Paul Bernard Golupski's Obituary
Paul Bernard Golupski passed away March 23, 2024. He was born on January 1, 1935, to Frank
and Cleo (Roe) Golupski in Big Rapids, Michigan. In 1953, Paul graduated from Mecosta Rural
Agricultural High School and then moved to Flushing with a few friends to work in Flint for a
year before going on to serve our country. When Paul returned from his stint in the service in
September of 1956, he became engaged to Mary Simon. Mary and Paul wed on May 4th, 1957,
at St Michaels in Remus and settled into their home at School Section Lake. They enjoyed
hosting many a class reunion over the years at the home built for them as a wedding present
through a joint effort by both sets of parents.
Paul attended Ferris Institute and after their first child was born, Paul was offered a Job,
through an unexpected connection, to work for the State of Michigan in Lansing. They packed
up and moved to the Capital where Paul began his career with the Michigan Department of
Transportation, Bridge Design.
They relocated several times in the Lansing area while expanding their family to four children.
In 1989 he retired after 30 years with MDOT after which Paul and Mary spent several of the
following years traveling to all 50 states and enjoying the life they had created together. They
pulled a fifth wheel for many of those years, spending winters in Las Cruces New Mexico,
several Arizona locations, and Needles California.
Paul enjoyed playing horseshoes with the friends they made at every location along the way.
They eventually sold the fifth wheel and spent many more winters in a waterfront Condo in
Orange Beech Alabama where Paul enjoyed sitting on his balcony, watching the boats on the
water, along with other sites on the beach. In May of 2023, Paul and Mary celebrated 66 years
together for which Paul was extremely proud. He lost Mary in December of 2023 and has now
gone to join her. They are reunited once again.
