Paul H. Schlachter's Obituary
Remus - Paul H. Schlachter, 76, of Remus, joined our Savior, under the care of family and hospice.
He was born in Phillipsburg, Kansas, the son of Pastor Robert and Frieda (Oestreich) Schlachter. Paul worked for Delta Air Lines for 34 years before retiring. He was a long-time member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, a man who lived his faith. A gentle, kind and loving husband, father, brother and friend.
Paul is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nola (nee Gingrich); daughter Heather (Peter) Hultgren of Minnesota; son Christopher Schlachter of Florida; grandchildren, Marcus and Valerie Hultgren, and Zachary Schlachter; sisters, Elizabeth Johnston of Brisbane, Australia, Lois Schlachter of Ann Arbor, and Roberta Christie of Oaxaca, Mexico; nieces, Rebecca (Tony) Qualischefski, Kathleen (Peter) Elliot, Jennifer Johnston, and nephew, Geoffrey (Kelly) Johnston, all of Australia.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 1, 2018, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Big Rapids, with Rev. Peggy A. Rose officiating. Burial will be in the Sherman City Cemetery. Paul's family will greet friends after 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his name may be made for Immanuel Lutheran Church or McClaren Hospice of Bay City.
