Pauline Swejkoski's Obituary
After greeting her 95th year, Mavis Pauline Swejkoski passed through to the Heavenly realms on June 3, 2023. Mavis, who was well known as Pauline, was born on May 26, 1928 to Elbert and Georgia (Sanders) Barnes in Tennessee. A little girl during the depression, she was raised on practical values and learned the art of using what you had or making due without.
Pauline had a great devotion to the Lord and her southern roots fostered a life-long love of good Gospel music. While she made a living by the art of making others look their best in her vocation as a Beautician, she had a natural knack for hospitality and joy that surrounded her no matter whether she was cooking, sewing, or canning. Her greatest joy in life was caring for her family. Pauline so enjoyed her church, Chippewa Hills Baptist, and within her friendship circle, always making time to visit in person or on the phone as she aged.
Pauline had a great love of Polka music, the playful and bouncy refrains suited her welcoming and joyful personality. She lived for making others happy, especially her special Sunday meals for family after services, the smells of her homemade bread welcoming like a warm hug. Her cooking, particularly her special cheesecake, was her mission to fill others with love and nourishment.
Left to carry on her memory are her children, Michele Fleck, Darrell (Catherine) Wheatley, Barbara Swejkoski, and Kevin (Ann) Swejkoski; grandchildren, Jeff Wheatley, Shannon (David) Newman, Keith Wheatley, Eric Wheatley, Angelique Sharpe, and Alecia Swejkoski; seven great- grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; her sister, Reba Haynes and the loving congregation at Chippewa Hills Baptist Church.
Pauline was preceded in death by her dear husband, Bernard, in 2017 and her 7 siblings.
Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Chippewa Hills Baptist Church in Remus, envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
Services will be held at Chippewa Hills Baptist Church on Friday, June 9th, at 11am. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Janowicz Family Funeral Home, and again Friday morning one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in Hillcrest Cemetery, Six Lakes.
