Percy Cornelius Knight's Obituary
EDMORE - Percy Cornelius Knight, age 103, formerly of Stanton, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024, at Brigham Facilities in Vestaburg. He was born on June 12, 1921, to Harrison and Edna (Gunckel) Knight.Percy was born and raised in Stanton where he attended school, graduating with the Stanton High School Class of 1938. On February 13, 1943, Percy married the love of his life, Kathryn, with whom he spent 81 years. He was the owner of Knight Auto Sales from 1944 until his retirement, after which time he only worked 60 hours per week!Percy and Katie spent 40 winters in Mesa, Arizona, and made many life-long friends there.In 1981, sons Judson and Lester purchased the business, and Percy continued to deliver cars and frequent the office until the age of 101!Percy enjoyed farming, gardening, hunting, selling vehicles and spending time with his family. He is known for his wonderful sense of humor and his unwavering kindness to others. He enjoyed an annual fishing trip to Canada with Rolland Clevenger and Norman Wagner, as well as annual moose-hunting trips in Canada with Norman Wagner, Albert Barker and Nile Clevenger. He was an active member of Frost Seventh Day Adventist Church, and enjoyed worship with his many friends.Percy is survived by his wife Kathryn "Katie" Knight and his children: Rodney (Karen) Knight of Washington, Judson (Michelle) Knight of Stanton, and Lester (Cathy) Knight of Stanton. He is also survived by his grandchildren Tracy, Kimberly, Justin and Scott, his sister Rebecca, and many nieces and nephews, as well as many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.Percy was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Helen and Gladys, and his brothers Armor and George Knight.A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore, Michigan. Visitation is planned for 1:00 pm, followed by the funeral at 2:00 pm.Memorial contributions made in Percy's honor should go to the Frost Seventh-day Adventist Church for their Vacation Bible School program.
