Phillip "Phil" John Voorhees' Obituary
Lakeview - Phillip "Phil" John Voorhees, age 45, of Lakeview passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023, at the Fred and Lena Heart Center in Grand Rapids. He was born in Lakeview on May 3, 1978, to Glen and Janice (Knapp) Voorhees. Phil was raised in the Amble area where he attended Lakeview Community Schools before graduating from Central Montcalm Schools in 1999. He was employed by Federal Mogul in Greenville for over 13 years, and was active in the Step Up Program, mentoring disadvantaged youth with issues of substance abuse. Phil enjoyed hunting, fishing and everything outdoors. He was very artistic, and loved working with his hands, which his drawings and woodworking projects proved. Phil is survived by his mother, Janice Allen of Lakeview; father, Glenwin (Kathy) Voorhees of Greenville; children, Austin Dickinson of Grand Rapids, Alexander and Anthony Voorhees both of Lakeview; siblings, James Jack Voorhees of Norton Shores, Brenda (Jeffery) Clark of Mt. Clemons, Rickey P. (Sara) Allen Jr., of Crystal, Jessica (Jeffery) Kranz of Greenville, Chandler (Micalah) Kosla of Grand Rapids, Michael Voorhees of Greenville; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Rickey Allen; grandparents, Jack and Phyllis Knapp, James and Nancy Voorhees, Joyce Edgecombe. Funeral services for Phil will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview with Pastor Richard Shindorf officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 14, from 4:00-7:00 PM and again on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the funeral chapel. Interment will be at Amble Cemetery.
