Phyllis Marie Pike's Obituary
Phyllis Marie Pike, age 89, of Lakeview went home to be with the Lord July 16, 2017. She was born June 29, 1928 in Lakeview, the daughter of Leo and Mabel Marie (Gill) Whitney. Phyllis was raised in Lakeview and attended Lakeview Schools. Phyllis graduated high school in 1947 and later married Theodore O. Pike at her parents' home on June 12, 1954. Phyllis worked with Avon for more than a decade and was a clerk for both A P Store and Hanson's Grocery for several years. Phyllis had many hobbies including attending church, canning, making peanut butter fudge, mac and cheese and applesauce. She also enjoyed bird watching but spending time with her family most of all.
Phyllis will be deeply missed by her son; Barry Jay Pike of Evart, daughter Beth Ann (Mike) Jacobs of Stanton, grandchildren; Robert Underhill Jr., Rebecca Compagnari, Alicia Johnston, Allen Pike, Alicia Stocks, and Phoenix Pike, 13 great-grandchildren, one brother in law; Dick (Nancy) Pike of Cedar Springs, one sister in law; Roberta (Max) Stine of Muskegon.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband in December of 2000; Theodore parents; Leo and Mabel Marie (Gill) Whitney, sister; Patricia Robinson, brother; Rolland "Ronnie" Whitney, four brother in laws; Jake (Margaret Ray) Pike, George Pike, Donny (Mary) Pike, and Gerald (Lois) Pike, and sister in law; Ada (Arden) Johnston.
Funeral services for Phyllis will be Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Free Methodist Church with a visitation Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Pastor David Waid will be officiating the service. Interment will be at the Altona Twp. Cemetery. Those wishing to make a contribution in Phyllis's memory are asked to consider making a check out to The Free Methodist Church building fund or Hospice of Michigan.
