Raymond Leo Faber's Obituary
After a happy life, Raymond Leo Faber passed away on July 2, 2023. Arriving into the world on March 22, 1944, Ray brought much joy to his parents, Fred and Mary Ellen (McElhenney) Faber.
Growing up in Rosebush/Leaton, he met and married the love of his life, Pat Welniak, on September 19, 1964. Together they raised their family in Mt. Pleasant, having 4 children of their own. After spending many summers at School Section Lake, Ray and Pat eventually retired to Mecosta, staying close to the mid-Michigan area. Ray, liked to joke with the kids that ‘he was the best dad you ever had’, but it was pure truth that he was a wonderful dad and husband to Pat.
An outgoing easy guy, Ray simply enjoyed people. His gentle nature served him well in his vocation as an Insurance agent, supporting his family. Ray and Pat loved to travel, particularly after early retirement with the freedom of leisure time. If Ray wasn’t hosting a family cookout, he was probably out in the woods messing around on his tractors or cutting wood. He found great joy in sitting around a campfire with anyone at any time of year. His long devotion to Pat was an example for all who witnessed his enduring care.
Left to carry on his memory are his beloved wife, Pat; Children, Ray (Deb) Faber, Mike (Robin) Faber, Christie (Jesse) Brennan, and Jill (Craig) Green; his 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, and sister, Barb Louiselle.
Preceding Ray in Eternity are his parents, Fred & Mary Ellen Faber, Leo Allen, Loretta Woodin, and his sisters, Catherine (Katie) Cairns and Donna Meyer.
A funeral mass will be held in Ray’s honor Thursday, July 6th, at 11:00 am, at St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Beal City with Father Thomas Held as Celebrant. Visitation will take place at the church Thursday morning from 10:00 am to the time of service. A Rosary service will be held prior to visitation at 9:30 am.
Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to St. Jude’s or Alzheimer’s Association.
