Raymond Theo Herald's Obituary
Edmore - Raymond Theo Herald, age 89, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 29, 2021, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, MI. Ray was born in Edmore on August 31, 1932, the son of Harry A. and Alice (Watts) Herald. He was raised in the Edmore and Vestaburg areas and attended DOPP School and Vestaburg High school, graduating Class of 1951. Ray was very proud of his military service where he served in the Army Airforce as a sergeant, enlisting in October 1952 until his discharge on April 1, 1976. Ray married Ida May Johnston on January 7, 1963, in Vernon, Texas and were united in marriage for almost 50 years. Raymond worked for Pinkertons Security Service for 17 years until 1994. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, tractor pulls, going to music festivals, watching grandkids play baseball, and spending time with friends and church family. He loved spending time with his family who will dearly miss him. Ray was a member of the Sheridan VFW Post, and the 1st Church of God in Edmore.
Ray is survived in death by his daughter, Rose Herald Jorae of Alma, MI; two grandchildren, Tara Herald and Anthony Jorae; four great grandchildren, Gage, Greyson, Willow, and Parker; step-children, Ruth (Lonny) McQueen of Vestaburg, Alfred (Jane) Hunt of Edmore, Rose (Gary) VanBuskirk of Edmore, Lyle (Rene) Hunt of Missouri; one step-daughter-in-law, Chris Hunt of Weidman; several step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, and step-great-great grandchildren, and step-great-great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Ida May Herald; parents Harry and Alice Herald; siblings, Derwood Herald, Vergilene Williams, Murnice Hardy; one stepson, Frank Hunt.
Funeral Services for Ray will be Friday, November 5, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore with Pastor Kelly Munger officiating. The family will greet friends from 11:00 to 1:00 PM on Friday, November 5, 2021, at Brigham Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at McBride Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Rose Jorae. There will be a luncheon at the First Church of God in Edmore immediately following services.
