Rebecca "Becky" Lynn Rousseau's Obituary
Lakeview- Rebecca Lynn Rousseau, age 67, of Lakeview, passed away in Kalamazoo at Kairos Dwelling on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Becky, as she was affectionately called, was born to Theodore and Margie (Bateman) Burden on December 12, 1955, in Stanwood. Becky was a country girl through and through, she enjoyed life on the family's farm. From an early age Becky was an avid fisherwoman and lover of animals who always had pets including dogs, cats, fish and birds. She was also the baker in the family, something she would enjoy doing her whole life. In 1973 Becky graduated from Morley Stanwood High School. In 1974 she was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Becky pursued a career in the medical field, where she spent 39 years as a nurse's aide at Kelsey Memorial Hospital. In 1997 she married Ronald Rousseau, and they were together until his death in 2009. Throughout her illness Becky received loving support from her friends in the Howard City congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and special friends; Janie Jolley, Maria Overbeek, Carolyn Cole, and Gaynell Harrington.Left to cherish her memory are nephew, Ken Hyder; niece, Kristi Hyder; stepchildren, Robert (TK) Rousseau and Debby Rousseau; brother-in-law, Dean Hyder; uncle, Gordon Burden; aunts, Helen and Jeanie; many cousins; and all those who called her friend.Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Theo and Margie Burden; brother, David Burden; and sister, Patricia Hyder.A cremation has taken place with a memorial service to be held at a future date. Contributions in Becky's memory can be a made to your local animal shelter or Saint Jude Children's Hospital.
